Readers sometimes ask how Kitchen Line Brief decides what to say about commercial kitchen equipment, kitchen layout and restaurant build-out, and whether we are paid to say it. Fair questions. Here are straight answers.
We start with what people ask
Our ideas come from problems people had to solve the hard way. We would rather write twenty useful guides than two hundred padded ones.
We show our working
When we describe how something behaves, we explain why. When a figure varies, we give a range and say what moves it. We do not publish statistics we cannot trace, and we do not borrow credibility from sources we have not read.
We tell you the catch
Every choice has a downside, and we name it. Many of our articles end by suggesting that you do less or spend less than you were about to.
We know our limits
Where a job needs a licensed professional, a permit or a regulator, we tell you so and stop. We would rather say “ask an expert” than hand you instructions that could hurt you.
Nobody buys our opinions
We are paid by display ads, which third-party networks place automatically, and by affiliate links on some pages. We never accept payment for coverage. If a commission and the right answer disagree, the right answer wins, and the Disclaimer spells out the disclosure.
People and tools
Software may help us research, outline, edit or illustrate. A person approves everything and is responsible for it.
When we get it wrong
We fix it on the page and note the change. If you have spotted a mistake, the contact form is the quickest way to tell us.
